Chelsea check on Brazilian starlet Wanderson do Carmo
Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for Brazilian midfielder Wanderson do Carmo.
The Blues sent scouts to watch him playing for his Swedish club GAIS against Brommapojkarna on Monday night, according to reports in Scandinavia.
The financially struggling club are ready to cash in on their free-scoring midfielder, who has struck 17 goals in 29 games for the Gothenburg outfit.
GAIS chairman Christer Wallin confirmed several clubs had been watching the 23-year-old, including two from Holland, but refused to confirm if Chelsea were among the admirers.
'I've heard (about Chelsea), but didn't receive confirmation,' Wallin told the Fotbolls Expressen newspaper. 'There should also have been two Dutch clubs there.
'For a large part of the season, often there have been four or five clubs were watching.
'It's been a tough year financially, we need to sell a player.'
It was GAIS's final home game of the season, which they lost 1-0, and had been billed as Wanderson's farewell match.
But he said: 'It is impossible to say. I have a contract with GAIS, but I know there is interest from some clubs in other countries. We must wait until there is a bid.'
Wanderson has spent three seasons in Sweden since joining from Brazilian minnows River Atletico Clube in 2007.
He is under contract until 2011 and has also been linked with Ajax, Heerenveen and Verona.

GAIS Striker Wanderson Undergoes Medical At Feyenoord - Report
The Brazilian striker is seemingly on his way to the Netherlands...
Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord are reportedly on the verge of signing highly rated forward Wanderson do Carmo from Swedish side GAIS, according to a report in Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
The report claims that the Brazilian striker has already undergone a medical at the Rotterdam club. However, Feyenoord and GAIS have yet to reach an agreement over the transfer.
Feyenoord are in the market for a new attacker due to the upcoming departure of Andwele Slory, who is believed to be set to sign for English Championship side West Bromwich Albion, and head coach Mario Been reportedly sees Wanderson as the perfect addition to his squad.
The Stadionclub are being plagued by financial trouble and have therefore set their sights on loaning the 23-year-old attacker until the end of the season with a view to making the move permanent in the summer.
Wanderson was previously linked with clubs such as Chelsea, Ajax and Heerenveen.

The 23-year-old plies his trade in the Swedish league with club side GAIS, who he joined in July 2007 on a four-and-a-half year deal from River in his homeland.
The youngster has been linked with clubs in the Dutch Eredivisie, namely Ajax and Heerenveen, but Chelsea have now joined the list of clubs tracking the player after it emerged that scouts from the Stamford Bridge club watched him play for GAIS last month.
"I was overjoyed when I heard that Chelsea where there to look at me," Wanderson told The Gothenburg-Posten.
With Chelsea set to lose midfielders John Obi-Mikel and Michael Essien during the African Cup of Nations, a move for Wanderson is not completely out of the realms of possibility, and his club side have admitted they would be willing to sell.
"For three million we are willing to let Wanderson go," said GAIS director Sebastian Arby.
There is no apparent stumbling block if Chelsea were to offer the cash, and Wanderson added: "Chelsea is a club that I really could consider playing for."
